For the millions of Americans who suffer with anxiety on a
daily basis; living a life without limits seems
impossible.
Anxiety symptoms may include a pounding heart, excessive
sweating, trembling, shortness of breath, feelings of
choking or being smothered, chest pain or discomfort,
abdominal distress, nausea, dizziness, numbing, tingles,
chills, hot flashes, fear of dying and or going crazy.
Because the symptoms of anxiety mimic symptoms of many
physical diseases, it is not uncommon for people to
overlook the need to seek an evaluation by a mental health
professional. Family members and friends may experience
the person with anxiety as controlling, insensitive,
forgetful, withdrawn, avoidant, as a procrastinator and
many times as a hypochondriac. The persons themselves may
be embarrassed to talk about the anxiety and suffer
silently, never venturing beyond what they have identified
as safe boundaries. |

Once the diagnosis of anxiety is determined then the
person will want to choose a coach/therapist who
specializes in treating anxiety. Although some people may
take medication for temporary relief of the anxiety
symptoms, most who suffer with anxiety prefer not to be on
medication. Research has documented that cognitive
behavioral therapy is the treatment of choice for anxiety.
It is for this reason that at the Advantage Center I offer
the "Attacking Anxiety and Depression Program"
to my clients. It is a cognitive behavioral approach;
which teaches the fundamentals necessary for negotiating
situations that produce anxiety. This program was
developed by Lucinda Bassett and has been effectively
helping people to overcome anxiety and panic for over 17
years. As a Midwest Anxiety Center affiliate, I utilize
this program with individuals and groups. Once a person
has completed the 16-week program they are ready to
advance to Performance Enhancement Coaching Services to
take their new skills into a life without limits.
